A renewed ecological awareness is spreading in the tanning sector which is gradually changing the way leather is worked.
Interventions aimed at improving process technologies or treating polluting effluents have led in the last decade to a reduction of the most evident negative effects on the environment, but the path that remains to be taken in research and development of cleaner technologies would still seem long.
The legislation tightens the shirt with increasingly stringent specifications regarding the environment and the finished product. The large manufacturers of leather goods want hypoallergenic products, without metals but which maintain the characteristics and performance that only chrome leather has been able to give in decades of history of leather processing. Something is changing, but we do not like to think that it is only the big names that require the use of eco-sustainable products, far from the philosophy of oil and made with processes with a reduced environmental impact. Our ambition is that it becomes a common desire, which goes beyond mere economic and propaganda interests.
Helping to shorten the time for this desire of ours to come true has become an essential mission for Osmo.

COSMOWHITE ™, the innovative process that allows to obtain a leather totally free of heavy metals and with a negligible formaldehyde content, lower than the limits currently required by any supply specifications. Leathers tanned with COSMOWHITE ™ are over 90% biodegradable, they do not release phytotoxic and chemical-toxic substances, in harmony with the criteria of ecotoxicology, to protect health and the environment established by the Reach legislation.
COSMOWHITE ™ allows to obtain eco-sustainable leathers with high tolerability for the wearer, while maintaining a very high quality, feel and performance of leathers processed with traditional products.
(W)ATT – HIGH PERFORMANCE DYESTUFFS
The (W) att range is the 21st century color palette. Born from Osmo technology at the disposal of the tanning technique.
Osmo releases an indispensable tool for those who have to deal daily with the concrete and increasingly punctual requests of high fashion brands. Light Fastness, Migration into Solvent (MSF), Washing, Migration into PVC. These are some of the aspects that the company took into consideration when it decided to offer the new proposal, in addition to the migration test in PVC in pre-established conditions of humidity and heat.
COLORANTI ULTRASOFT
ULTRASOFT dyes have been designed with the purpose to create clean and uniform effects on leather, light colours always more brilliant and plain.
The use in small quantities of dye necessarily joint to dispersants and equalizings are often reason of not uniform colour and make more evident surface defects of the leather, besides of the fact that the use of dispersants dramatically decreases resistance to light and heat of the leather.
The new ULTRASOFT aniline dyes prevent these problems. Uniform pastel shades with strong and evident leather treatment, aniline leathers with excellent strenght to light and heat. ULTRASOFT is the essential ingredient to satisfy all requirements of fashion in constant evolution.
